Rose Harrison
I have been with the mission for 20 years, from January 18, 2006 to present.
I first heard about the camp through my mom. She helped out here. My mom, Dawn, and William Owens went to Bible school together. I attended and graduated from the same Bible college, Southland Bible Institute, from 1998 to 2002. While there, I served as a girls’ counselor, worked in Cubbies, and helped in the kitchen. I also went on a six-month mission trip to Carriacou in Grenada.
After that, I returned to SBI to help in the kitchen. I attended Temple Baptist Church, where I was a member. I taught in many
classes at Temple, from Bible Buddies to teens, and sang in the choir. During that time, I felt God calling me to Kentucky Mountain Mission. I let William know in the spring of 2003 and began raising my support. I joined full-time on January 18, 2006.
William has had me do everything from working in the store to hospitality, counseling in Cubbies, and helping in the kitchen. The only things I haven’t done are maintenance or the horses.
I was also a part of the Crusaders with Preacher Bill. Now I help out at the Lee County Recreation Center. I cook, clean, and help with special projects—whatever is needed. I attend Warrens Chapel in Owsley. I help with the little kids’ choir and assist with cleanup on Wednesdays. I also help serve the kids and teens a meal and assist the different mountain Wednesday night teachers with their classes.
God has taught me a lot over the years—to be willing and ready to help wherever needed. He has also allowed me, over the years, to lead girls and teen girls to the Lord. I appreciate God allowing me to be used to further His kingdom.
May God bless you.
